Posters by Uwe Loesch
"Help take the edge off the daily reduction
of Human Rights" reads the poster designed by the subtractionist
Uwe Loesch for
the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution.
By "taking the edge off" the rectangular format Loesch sets
off an endless loop of meanings. The object is not in the poster,
the poster itself is the object, he quips.
In the Punktum campaign introducing a new scanner Loesch zeroes in on
a mole on a woman's face. The blemish is transformed into a literal and
metaphorical expression of the slogan.
