Vinyl Milford House by Allen & Ellen Wexler

A mass-produced storage shed is retrofitted by Allan & Ellen Wexler to create a Vinyl Milford House, commissioned in 1994 by the Katonah Museum of Art.

The shed is too small to contain all the rooms, so crate-like furniture storage cavities are made in its walls.

Furniture is denied a permanent place in the interior and, as a result, it moves freely between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional existences.
