Crate House by Allen Wexler

Commissioned in 1991 by University of Massachusetts, the Crate House has only one room. Artist and architect Allan Wexler rethinks the very nature of living space designation.

Each purpose-specific area of this house, the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom and the living room, fits into a crate of its own. When needed, a given crate is wheeled into an 8’x 8’x 8’ room, converting it to its purpose.
