Water Calligraphy

Chinese calligraphy materials and methods have been painstakingly perfected with one goal in mind:

to produce writing that will endure into posterity.

Sidewalk water calligraphy is performed on the streets of Peking with no such concern. This fleeting poetry of broom and water disappears within minutes of its creation.

In the process, it offers only a pure and concentrated experience of calligraphy.
